Youth and Community Advocacy

If you aspire to a future career as an educator, community builder, nonprofit manager, youth coach, or something similar, the associate degree in Youth and Community Advocacy could be a good fit for you. 

The curriculum within the Youth and Community Advocacy major will include coursework within Butler’s Core Curriculum in addition to major-specific classes focused on education, advocacy, youth development, and more. 

Throughout this two-year program, you can expect to access a variety of experiential learning opportunities. You will also have the opportunity to earn relevant industry credentials, including:

  • Child and Youth Care
  • Mental Health
  • First Aid

Career and 2+2 Educational Opportunities

Upon completion of the degree, you will be well-equipped to enter the workforce in fields such as school care, youth sports, mental health/skills training, nonprofit management, and customer service—just to name a few.

You will be able to promote the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social well-being of children and adolescents with an ethical, collaborative, and caring approach across a variety of professional settings.

You will compare and contrast the ways in which various career pathways in education, the arts, business, and social sciences contribute to the development and well-being of youth, families, and communities.
